The best fishing of the past couple of weeks has been and remains New Melones Reservoir. On Wednesday, just past 10 a.m., I had reports from two different boats that were trolling and both had just finished limits of kokanee with many more fish hooked and lost.

This fishing is just outstanding at this point and most all of those trollers working for kokanee are doing very well. There are a few rainbow trout being caught as incidental catches for those using the typical kokanee gear.

At Lake Berryessa, there have been some excellent reports for kokanee to just less than 2 pounds being caught although there are no details as to where and on what. Gary Coe, of Folsom, reported five fish that was only four ounces under 10 pounds this past week.

Ocean fishing for salmon seems to be on the mend a bit when the weather (wind mostly) allows the fishermen to get out.

The Fort Bragg fishermen are reporting good numbers of fish caught and the average is between 12 and 16 pounds. That is very impressive.
