Neiman Marcus at Short Hills hosted their Fall 2011 Trend Preview on August 10, showcasing the must-have looks for the upcoming season. The event began with a showing by Elie Tahari to a small number of exclusive clientele, as well as displays and live models throughout the store. FASHIONISTAS may have flagged dark colours for the winter race season, but at this year’s Ladies Oaks Day on Friday the Sunshine Coast is bucking the trend and splashing out in all things colour.

But no matter which hue you go for, this racing season’s fashion forward trend is matching your fascinator with your bag and accessories.

Sunshine Coast Turf Club chief executive Mick Sullivan expects between 8000 and 10,000 racegoers through the gates at the Corbould Park Racecourse in Caloundra.

Along with regular events such as the Fashions on the Field, this year’s Ladies Oaks Day will see the launch of a celebrity foot race featuring high profile personalities from across the Sunshine Coast.

All money raised from the celebrity foot race will go to Sunshine Coast Surf Lifesaving, the chosen charity for this year’s Oaks Day.

Ladies Oaks Day is a lead-in to the biggest event on the Sunshine Coast Turf Club’s calendar, the Caloundra Cup Carnival on July 2-3.

“It’s our major race meeting for the year with nearly $1,000,000 prize money for the day,” Mr Sullivan said. “A lot of people from all around Australia and New Zealand target those races. It always attracts a good field.”
